Burgas: The centre of Bulgaria Town Country Coast Property and Leisure Services
Burgas Burgas, almost as far south as Barcelona, is probably the least known city in Bulgaria but is in the middle of outstanding coastal and rural scenery, many Byzantine and Ottoman historic sites, plus many opportunities for outdoor activities. Burgas is often said to be an industrial city, (have you ever looked over the hill in Barcelona), but is more correctly described as the commercial, tourist and industrial centre of the south Black Sea coastal region. This coastal region can be considered to stretch from Elenite in the north to the Turkish Border in the south. Burgas is a bustling thriving and developing commercial centre and this is plain to see to the returning visitor. Within 3 months it is easy to see changes all around as you travel through Burgas. Festival City This is heightened by the fact that the indisputable forlorn tower blocks sit side by side with the new construction of offices, apartments and buildings for major car and boat dealerships, supermarkets and hotels. Even the UK's Marks and Spencers have opened a store on the edge of Burgas. The skyline of Burgas is transforming quickly under the watchful eye of the Burgas Municipality. In addition the international airport just outside Burgas serves increasing numbers of holiday flights during the summer and in 2008 had the first scheduled all year flight from Sofia (Bulgaria Air) and London Luton (Wizzair). The topography of the region can be said to be bounded in the north by the end of the Stara Planina Mountains, the three lakes which surround Burgas and are the home to many resident and migratory birds, and Strandja Mountains, Forest and National park to the south. In addtion the flora of the region is typified by the latest piece of news: From a total of 90 orchid species which are found in Bulgaria, 40 of them can be observed in Bourgas |
